|Name||Barley Forge Brewing Die Brücke|
|Company||Barley Forge Brewing Co.|
|Style||Berlin style Ale|
|About||Die Brücke® is Barley Forge’s Berliner Weisse, a sour, lemony, tart, fruity, and refreshing ale brewed in a traditional German style dating back to at least 1642. When Napoleon occupied Berlin in 1809, he dubbed Berliner Weisse as the “Champagne of the North” because of its effervescent character. We call this beer “Die Brücke” (“The Bridge” in German) because we consider it a bridge or accessible gateway to sour beers for the uninitiated. Soured with Lactobacillus in the brew kettle prior to fermentation, this beer is brewed with German pilsen and wheat malt and finishes very dry with no discernable hop presence. As at the brewery, we offer our accounts housemade, traditional “Waldmeister” (woodruff) syrup to be added to the beer at pouring for a more rounded presentation, or the beer can be enjoyed on its own. This beer pairs well with ceviche and other citrusy seafood, as well as French fries and other light flavored fried fare.|
